Mother Ambrose, who ran a small No Kill animal Sanctuary in Glendale, Oregon, died in a tragic automobile accident on January 1, 2007.

Long before the concept of humane treatment for animals was popular, Mother Ambrose stood her ground. As a spiritual advisor to many, she never lost faith that one day the world would respect the rights of animals. Meanwhile she lived and counseled that every day. It was simply how we should live.` Once nominated for an humanitarian award, she said the honor was the nomination then declined to be set in competition against her fellow nominees.

She wrote: 'All animals have a soul, therefore they not only have physical and moral rights, but spiritual rights as well... We have NO right to take that right and privilege away from any animal/human. There is No excuse for killing, exploiting or eating animals.. . Love one another and all the Creatures of God, for Humane Love is the Fulfillment of the Holy Humane Law on Earth...'
